1AND MOSES RETURNED. The Nagid147 says that a lamed has been dropped and compensated for148 in the nun of anna. in the word anna (oh), which is short for al na (please consent). He maintains that the word al149. is related to the word ho’il (consent).150 However, this is far-fetched. On the contrary, its meaning is: please (anna) don’t do this.151 means please or I confess. Its implication is, please (or I confess the following but) do not do this (Meijler).
