Ibn Ezra on Exodus 33:1/אבן עזרא על שמות ל״ג:א׳
אוידבר, לך עלה מזה. כי ההולך לפאת שמאל עולה הוא על כן ירד אברם מצרימה (ברא' יב י) כי הוא בדרום:
1AND THE LORD SPOKE UNTO MOSES: DEPART, GO UP HENCE. Scripture reads go up because one who goes towards the left side1 goes up.2. Abraham therefore went down into Egypt (Gen. 12:10)3. because he was in the south.4 (because he was in the south). Sarim suggests emending our text to read, ki hi be-darom [for it (Egypt) is in the south].
בוכל זה אעשה בעבור שבועתי לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב:
2[JACOB.] I will do all of this5 because of the oath which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
