Ibn Ezra on Genesis 24:8/אבן עזרא על בראשית כ״ד:ח׳
אלא תשב שמה. שיעמוד בארץ ישראל וטעם לא תשב, בעבור אברהם שהוא העיקר:
1THOU SHALT NOT BRING MY SON BACK THITHER. He must remain in the land of Israel. Abraham said, thou shalt not bring my son back 16 ? One cannot bring back what was never there. Abraham should have said: thou shalt not bring my son thither. because he (Abraham) was the root.17 (Deut. 6:21). If our ancestors were there it is as if their children were there (Krinsky).
