Ibn Ezra on Numbers 20:16/אבן עזרא על במדבר כ׳:ט״ז
אוישלח מלאך. כמשמעו וכן הכתוב אומר ומלאך פניו הושיעם ורבים פירשוהו על משה כי מצאו ויאמר חגי מלאך ה' ואין זאת דעתי:
1AND SENT AN ANGEL.71. The word malakh can be rendered as messenger or angel. Hence I.E.’s comment. This is to be taken literally. Scripture similarly states, And the angel of His presence saved them (Is. 63:9). Many said that the reference is to Moses72 for they found Then spoke Haggai the Lord’s messenger (malakh)73. (Haggai 1:13). However, this is not my opinion.
