Sforno on Leviticus 26:30/
1ונתתי את פגריכם על פגרי גלוליכם, seeing that the city is under siege, as the Talmud Sanhedrin 63b relates about a certain encounter between Elijah the prophet and a young child suffering from hunger; when he urged the child to recite the שמע ישראל prayer so that he would be revived, the child refused even to utter the name of G’d, pulling out his particular miniature idol kissing it, and dying on the spot, instead.
