Sifrei Devarim 167/ספרי דברים קס״ז
א(דברים יח ה) כִּי בוֹ בָחַר ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ מִכָּל שְׁבָטֶיךָ – מַגִּיד שֶׁאֵין שֵׁרוּת כָּשֵׁר בּוֹ אֶלָּא מֵעוֹמֵד; הָא אִם יָשַׁב וְשֵׁרֵת – עֲבוֹדָתוֹ פְּסוּלָה.
1Pisqa’ 1671451. “For, HASHEM your God chose him from among all your tribesto stand and serve” (Dt. 18:5).This indicates thatproper [levitical] serviceis performed while standing.Therefore, if he served while seated,his service is disqualified.146 155.1.
בהוּא וּבָנָיו כָּל הַיָּמִים – בֵּין בָּאָרֶץ וּבֵין בְּחוּצָה לָאָרֶץ.
2“Him and his sons for all time” (Dt. 18:5)—whether in the Land or beyond the Land.147
