Ibn Ezra on Exodus 12:36/אבן עזרא על שמות י״ב:ל״ו
אוינצלו. לא מצאנו גזירת הצלה מהבנין הקל, רק מהנוסף אי מהדגוש, ושניהם פעלים יוצאים כי אין הפרש בטעם בין וינצלו, ובין ויצל אלהים (ברא' לא ט), רק בבנין הנוסף יזכיר הפעול, ולא כן בדגוש:
1AND THEY DESPOILED. We do not find the root nun, tzadi, lamed 435 (and they despoiled). I.E. literally reads: we do not find the root of hatzalah in the kal. in the kal. We find it only in the hifil and the pi’el. They436 and the hifil. are both transitive verbs because there is no difference in meaning between va-yenatzelu (and they despoiled)437. and va-yatzel (hath taken away)438 from the root nun, tzadi, lamed. in Thus God hath taken away (Gen. 31:9) except that in the hifil the object439 (va-yatzel) the cattle. is mentioned and in the pi’el it is omitted.440 (va-yenatzelu) the Egyptians. However, it does not say what they took.
