Ibn Ezra on Exodus 33:22/אבן עזרא על שמות ל״ג:כ״ב

אושכותי. בשי"ן או בסמ"ך שוה הטעם, ומפרשים אמרו כי כפי. עב, כמו על כפים כסה אור (איוב לו לב) הן על כפים חקותיך (ישעי' מט טז), ואינו רק כמשמעו:

1AND I WILL COVER THEE. Ve-sakkoti (and I will cover thee) has the same meaning whether spelled with a sin or a samekh.²⁰⁰ is spelled with a sin in our verse. Some commentaries say that kappi (My hand) is to be interpreted My cloud,²⁰¹ as in al kappayim kissah or (He covereth His hands (or cloud) with the lightning) (Job. 36:32) and hen al kappayim chakkotikh (Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of My hands) (Is. 49:16).²⁰² However, it is to be translated literally.²⁰³ is to be rendered My hand.
