Ibn Ezra on Exodus 34:5/אבן עזרא על שמות ל״ד:ה׳

אוירד. י"א כי ויתיצב על הענן כי השם היה עובר ודע כי המשיל בהר העליונים והנכבדים מהגופות כאשר הוא ההר עליון על האדמה:

1AND THE LORD DESCENDED. Some say that and stood refers to the cloud,²¹ for God was passing by.²² Note that the mountain symbolizes²³ (he compared). Others render, he gave dominion. See Meijler and Krinsky. the celestial angels who are on a higher level than human beings, as the mountain is higher than the ground.²⁴

בויקרא בשם ד'. הנה השם הוא הקורא והנה למדנו איך יקרא משה:

2AND PROCLAIMED THE NAME OF THE LORD. Note, it was the Lord who was proclaiming.²⁵ God thus taught Moses how to proclaim²⁶ (he taught him), as in Vat. Ebr. 38 rather than lamadnu (we learn), as in the printed texts. See next note. the name of the Lord.²⁷ 38. The printed texts read: We thus learn how Moses proclaimed the name of the Lord.
