Ibn Ezra on Exodus 9:25/אבן עזרא על שמות ט׳:כ״ה
אויךְ. זאת היתה מכה קשה שהרג אדם ובהמה, ושבר עץ השדה, רק שהשם חמל עליהם ועל מקניהם, ולא הזכיר משה לפרעה זה שראה ששלח פרעה ולא מת ממקנה ישראל עד אחד ולא שת לבו:
1AND THE HAIL SMOTE. This was a very strong plague, for it killed man and beast and broke every tree of the field. However, God pitied them84 and their cattle. Moses did not mention this to Pharaoh85 because he saw that Pharaoh sent agents and learned that there was not even one of the cattle of the Israelites dead, and yet did not take this to heart.86
