Ibn Ezra on Genesis 1:11/אבן עזרא על בראשית א׳:י״א
אויאמר, אמר הכתוב תדשא הארץ "ישרצו" (בראשית א כ) "תצא" (שם פ' כד), והנה שם כח בארץ ובמים לעשות במצות השם וזו היא התולדות,
1AND GOD SAID. Scripture states, Let the earth put forth grass (Gen. 1:11); Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures (Gen. 1:20); Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind (Gen. 1:24). This teaches that God placed in the earth and in the water the power to bring forth these things at God’s command. These are the generations (offspring) of the heaven and the earth (Gen. 2:4).104
בוטעם תדשא כמו תצמיח:
2[LET THE EARTH PUT FORTH GRASS.] Tadshe means let it put forth.
גאשר זרעו בו, שהזרע בפרי וכל אחד שומר מינו:
3WHEREIN IS THE SEED THEREOF. Wherein the seed is in the fruit and each one produces its own kind.
