2WHEN THEY WERE CREATED. When the firmament came into being and the earth became visible.
3[IN THE DAY THAT THE LORD GOD MADE.] Be-yom asot means in the day that God fixed.11 (make) means “to fix in its final form.” When the firmament and the earth received their final form, God commanded them to produce offspring (toledot). Proof of this can be seen in and He hastened to dress it (la-asot oto) (Gen. 18:7), and in Whom I have created which is then followed by I have formed him, and finally by yea, I have made him (asitiv) (Is. 43:7).12) and last, of fixing in final form (asitiv).
