Ibn Ezra on Leviticus 20:14/אבן עזרא על ויקרא כ׳:י״ד
אואיש אשר יקח את אשה וגו׳ זמה הוא. כטעם זנות במחשבה:
1AND IF A MAN TAKE WITH HIS WIFE ALSO HER MOTHER, IT IS WICKEDNESS. Zimmah (wickedness) means a promiscuous thought.42 comes from the Hebrew root zayin, mem, mem which means to plan, devise, purpose. Hence I.E.’s comment.
בואתהן. זאת או זאת אם היתה האם אשתו תשרף הבת וכן הפך הדבר:
2AND THEY. This one or that one. If the mother43 was his wife, then the daughter is burned.44 The same is true in the reverse.
