Sefer HaMiddot, Depression, Part II/
1Depression is felt in the heart. This is because the heart—which designs everything one does, whether good or otherwise—feels its own wrongdoing.
2A person must avoid depression so as not to be given reason to mourn.
3Grief and depression lead to conflict, whereas joy brings peace to the world.
4When a person’s happiness is ruined, he becomes sick.
5Compassion is a segulah for eliminating depression.
6Taking vows and pledging charity bring happiness.
