Sefer HaMiddot, Love, Part II/

1When the earth’s plant life reaches full size, there is love in the world.
2The measure of a woman’s love for her husband is [in inverse proportion to the number of] flies and gnats in their house. Also, from their love we can tell whether the evil inclination’s power [over them] has been weakened.
3The wise men of the generation who love each other and visit each other from time to time have the power to judge the entire world. Their judgment is lasting and no one will be able to change or nullify it, for God Himself is the head magistrate of their court.
4Unwarranted hatred causes a person to unintentionally eat unkosher food.
5A person’s lust for food causes him to favor one child over the others.
