Sforno on Genesis 9:18/ספורנו על בראשית ט׳:י״ח
אוְחָם הוּא אֲבִי כְנָעַן. דּוֹמֶה בִּדְרָכָיו לִכְנַעַן הַמְפֻרְסָם לְרֹעַ, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁהָיָה אָב לִכְנַעַן בֶּאֱמֶת גַּם בַּהֲדָמוֹת, כְּעִנְיַן "אָבִיךְ הָאֱמוֹרִי" (יחזקאל טז:ג).
1Cham was the father of Canaan. Canaan infamous for his wickedness and Cham was similar in character, thus he was the father of Canaan in the spiritual as well as the biological sense.
