Sifrei Devarim 202/ספרי דברים ר״ב
א(דברים כ יח) לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְלַמְּדוּ אֶתְכֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁאִם עוֹשִׂים תְּשׁוּבָה אֵין נֶהֱרָגִים.
1Pisqa’ 202337“So that they do not teach you to commit any of the abominations” (Dt. 20:18)—this teaches thatif they become penitents, they are not to be killed.
בוַחֲטָאתֶם לַה׳ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם, אִם לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם כָּל הָאָמוּר בָּעִנְיָן – נִקְרָאִים אַתֶּם חַטָּאִים לַה׳ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם.
2“So that you sin against HASHEM your God” (Dt. 20:18)—if you haven’t performed all that is stated here,you shall be called sinners against HASHEM your God.
