Ibn Ezra on Deuteronomy 32:41/אבן עזרא על דברים ל״ב:מ״א

אאם שנותי. מפעלי הכפל כמו וחנותי לבני בטני מגזרת חץ שנון:

1IF I WHET. Shannoti (I whet) comes from a double root.³⁹⁵. Compare, channoti³⁹⁶. Both words are similarly conjugated. (I am loathsome) in And I am loathsome to the children of my tribe (Job 19:17). Shannoti is related³⁹⁷ to the word shanun (sharp) in and a sharp arrow (Prov. 25:18).

בותאחז במשפט ידי. החרב משפט גבור מלחמה:

2AND MY HAND TAKE HOLD ON JUDGMENT. The sword is the instrument by which the warrior executes judgment.³⁹⁸

גאשיב נקם. טעם אשיב כאשר עשו לישראל וכן אשלם:

3I WILL RENDER VENGEANCE TO MINE ADVERSARIES. The meaning of ashiv (I will render) is, I will do to Mine adversaries as they did to Israel. This is also the meaning of And will recompense (ashallem).
