Ibn Ezra on Exodus 1:12/אבן עזרא על שמות א׳:י״ב
אוכאשר יענו אותו. אעפ"י שהיה בעינוי, כן ירבה כימים אשר לא עונה:
1BUT THE MORE THEY AFFLICTED THEM. Even though they were afflicted.118 (ve-kha’asher) afflicted them. I.E. interprets this to mean even though they afflicted them. THE MORE THEY MULTIPLIED. As they did in the days when they were not afflicted.119. I.E. interprets this to mean so they multiplied as in days of old.
ביפרוץ. שעבר החוק בפריה ורביה כמו ופורץ גדר (קהלת י):
2AND THE MORE THEY SPREAD ABROAD. They were fruitful and increased above and beyond the norm.120 Yifrotz (they spread abroad) is like poretz (breaketh) in And whoso breaketh through a fence (Ecclesiastes 10:8).121
