Ibn Ezra on Exodus 12:13/אבן עזרא על שמות י״ב:י״ג
אוזה יהיה לכם לאות שיחזק לבבכם ולא ירך בשמעכם צעקת המצריים במות בכוריהם בעבור המשחית, בעבור הדם אשר אני רואה אפסח עליכם ולא יהיה בכם נגף כי זה הדם יהיה לאות על המשחית:
1AND THE BLOOD SHALL BE TO YOU FOR A TOKEN. This315 shall be for you a token so that your hearts will be strong and will not weaken as you hear the cries of the Egyptians when their first-born die via the destroyer. [AND WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD.] I will pass over you and there will be no plague among you because I will see the blood. The blood will be a sign to the destroyer.316
