אוהשביעית תשמטנה. היא שתקרא שמטה לה', ולא יגוש איש את רעהו האביון:
1BUT THE SEVENTH YEAR THOU SHALT LET IT REST. This is the year that the Lord’s release is proclaimed. One is then prohibited from exacting a debt from his needy neighbor.55
בונטשׁתה. שלא תזרע וכמוהו וְנִטוֹש את השנה השביעית (נחמיה י לב):
2AND LIE FALLOW. U-netashta (and lie fallow)56 means it shall not be sown. And we would forego (ve-nittosh)57 and ve-netashta come from the same root nun, tet, shin. the seventh year (Neh. 10:32) is similar.58
