אלא. אמר הגאון, זהו לסימן כאשר תראה כי פרית ורבית, אז יכרתו כל השבעה עממין ואין צורך, כי הזכיר הטעם למה לא יגרשם בשנה אחת, וזהו פן תהיה הארץ שממה, כי ארץ ישראל תהיה ארוכה מאד ויוצאי ממצרים לא יוכלו לישבה כולה, כמו פן תקדש (דבר' כב ט):
