Ibn Ezra on Exodus 3:3/

1AND MOSES SAID: I WILL TURN ASIDE (ASURAH) NOW. When a verb from the root samekh, vav, resh is followed by a mem it means: to distance from, as in suru mi-menni (turn aside from me) (Ps. 6:9) in which the speaker says, distance yourself from me. However, if the word el (to) which is vocalized with a segol follows it, then it has the opposite meaning, as in suru elai (turn in) (Jud. 4:18), the meaning of which is, turn from your place and come to me. Moses wanted to turn aside from where he was and to then draw near to the bush.37 (I will turn aside now). I.E. believes that this is short for asurah na mi-mikomi (I will turn aside now from my place). We should thus interpret asurah as if it were followed by a mem; i.e., it means: I will turn aside from my place.
2AND SEE THIS GREAT SIGHT. This is the first sign recorded in the Torah that the Lord did via his prophet Moses. Scripture thus says, and this shall be the token (sign) unto thee that I have sent thee (v. 12).38 Yefet39 says that the interpretation of the sign is as follows: the enemy40 is compared to fire and Israel to a bush. Hence the bush was not burnt.
