Ibn Ezra on Exodus 4:18/אבן עזרא על שמות ד׳:י״ח

אוילך. יתר הוא יתרו כמו גשם (נחמי' ו ב) הוא נשמו (שם שם ו ו), ושלמה הוא שלמון (רות ד כא) והנה אמר לו שילך לראות אחיו ולא גלה לו הסוד:

1AND MOSES WENT…JETHER.⁸⁴ Jether and Jethro are one and the same. Similarly, Geshem (Neh. 6:2) and Gashmu⁸⁵ (Neh. 6:6) are one and the same, as are Salmah⁸⁶ (Ruth 4:20) and Salmon (Ruth 4:21). Moses told Jethro that he was going to see his brethren. He did not reveal the secret to him.⁸⁷
