1AND WILL HOLD THEM STILL. The word hand or something similar15 has been omitted.16 (hold them) is a hifil, a causative. It literally means causes to hold. Hence, whenever this form is encountered, the word hand or something similar is implied although not always stated. Our phrase literally reads: and will still cause to hold them. I.E. interprets this to mean: and will still cause your hand (or something similar) to hold them (Filwarg). One that holdeth17. J.P.S. translates as taketh. a dog by the ears (Prov. 26:17) is similar.18
