Ibn Ezra on Genesis 27:5/אבן עזרא על בראשית כ״ז:ה׳
אורבקה שומעת. היתה שומעת:
1AND REBEKAH HEARD. Shoma’at (heard) should be translated, “was listening.”7 is a participle. It literally means listening. Hence, the word “was” has to be added and the verse should be understood: Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to Esau his son.
