Ibn Ezra on Genesis 31:24/אבן עזרא על בראשית ל״א:כ״ד

אויבא אלהים אל לבן האדמי. קודם וידבק אותו, ופי' וכבר בא אלהים, וכבר הראיתיך רבים כמוהו, ובא השם לכבוד יעקב:

1AND GOD CAME TO LABAN THE ARAMEAN. This occurred before he overtook him (v. 23). Therefore its (v. 4) meaning is, and God had already come to Laban the Aramean. I have already pointed out many similar instances. ³⁸ means, and God had come to Laban…in a dream. God appeared to Laban out of respect for Jacob.³⁹

במטוב עד רע. שתחשוב אתה שהוא טוב לו, לא תדבר לו להשיבו:

2EITHER GOOD OR BAD. Do not speak to Jacob about returning even if you think it is for his good.⁴⁰
