Ibn Ezra on Genesis 31:50/אבן עזרא על בראשית ל״א:נ׳
אאם תענה את בנותי. אמר הגאון פירושו אם לא תשכב עם נשיך וזאת לשון נכריה לא נשמע כמוה בכל המקרא, ואם היה כמשמעו מה יזיק, והטעם שלא יעשה להם רע, ויכריחם על דבר שאינם חפיצות בו, ותרגום גלעד יגר שהדותא:
1IF THOU SHALT AFFLICT MY DAUGHTERS. Saadiah Gaon explains this to mean: if you will not cohabit with your wives.80 77b and Rashi. Now this is a strange rendition of afflict. Nowhere in Scripture does afflict have this connotation.81 What problem is there in interpreting the term according to its plain sense?82 Its meaning is: do not do anything evil to my daughters or force them to do things against their will.Jagar-sahadutha is Aramaic for Galeed.83
