1THE CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD. The term tabbach (guard) is used both with reference to killing62 (rav tabbachyya) who was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon. and with reference to cooking.63 means cook, viz., And the cook (ha-tabbach) took up the thigh. Onkelos’ rendition is correct.64 as the chief executioner.
