אויצברו בר. הפקידים וי"א כי טעם בר להיותו עם שבליו, והנכון בעיני שנקרא בר אחר מלאכת לזרות או לחבר והאומר כי אויר מצרים לח בעבור היאור, ולא יעמוד שם דנן ז' שנים, יוכל לערבו עם דברים שיעמידוהו:
1AND LAY UP CORN. The overseers. Some say that bar (corn) refers to corn in its ears.53 However, I think that bar is the term applied to the corn after it has been fanned and cleansed.54. 38 reads, fanned and cleansed. We have followed the latter. To the one who says that the Egyptian air is damp because of the Nile and it is impossible for corn to last there for seven years, we reply that it is possible to mix corn with preservatives.55 90:5 this is precisely what Joseph did.
