אדן ידין עמו. רמז שיהיה בעל דגל כאחד בני הגבירות, והנה היה כקצין על כל עם מהשפחות:
1DAN SHALL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE. Jacob hinted that Dan, although born of a handmaid, would have a standard just as the tribes born of the wives did.111 Dan was thus a ruler over all the other tribes that were descended from the handmaids.112, i.e., he shall be a ruler over the tribes descended from the handmaids.
