Rashi on Exodus 23:29/רש"י על שמות כ״ג:כ״ט
אשממה. רֵקָנִית מִבְּנֵי אָדָם, לְפִי שֶׁאַתֶּם מְעַט וְאֵין בָּכֶם כְּדֵי לְמַלֹּאות אוֹתָהּ:
1שממה DESOLATE — empty of human beings, for you are but few and not sufficient to fill it all up.
בורבה עליך. וְתִרְבֶּה עָלֶיךָ:
2ורבה עליך means, [LEST THE ANIMALS OF THE FIELD] MULTIPLY AGAINST THEE.
