Ibn Ezra on Exodus 15:18/

1THE LORD SHALL REIGN. God’s Kingship will be seen when the Holy Temple132 which will be dedicated to His name shall be built.
2[FOR EVER AND EVER.] Le-olam va-ed (for ever and ever)133 is an abridgment. The full form is le-olam ve-ad134 is a variant of ve-ad. olam (for ever and until ever). Do not be amazed that the word ed135 is not in the construct,136 for we find, shokhen ad137 a variant of ed, is not in the construct.ve-kadosh shemo (That inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy) (Is. 57:15). It is the custom of Hebrew to vocalize a vav with a pattach138 I.E. occasionally refers to the kamatz as a pattach (Krinsky). when the syllable which follows it is accented.139 rather than ve-ed. Compare, va-ez (or goat) in of ox, or sheep, or goat (Lev. 7:23). It is for this reason that va-ed is vocalized with a pattach.140 Now Scripture reads, va-okhal141 mi-kol (I have eaten of all) (Gen. 27:33). However, at the end of a verse it reads, ha-nachash hishi’ani va-okhel142 In other words, the pattach changes to a tzere at the end of a sentence. Similarly, the word ad is vocalized ed at the end of a sentence. (the serpent beguiled me, and I did eat) (Gen. 3:13). Hence the statement, le-olam va-ed.143
