Sforno on Exodus 15:4/ספורנו על שמות ט״ו:ד׳
אמַרְכְּבוֹת פַּרְעֹה וְכוּ'. אַחַר שֶׁסִּפְּרוּ אָבְדַן סוּס וְרֹכְבוֹ, שֶׁהוּא פַּרְעֹה וְסוּסוֹ, וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו הוֹדָאָה לָאֵל יִתְבָּרַךְ, סִפְּרוּ מִלְחַמְתּוֹ בְּחֵיל פַּרְעֹה וּמִבְחַר שָׁלִישָׁיו, שֶׁהֵם הָיוּ עִקַּר כָּל הַצָּבָא:
1מרכבות פרעה וחילו, after giving thanks to G’d for the destruction of Pharaoh and his horse, Moses refers to G’d’s fight against the army and his elite corps of officers which constituted the backbone of his army.
