1DAN. Names are connected to each other in Scripture in six different ways. All of these styles are correct. One way of listing names is, Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad (Gen. 10:22).31 (and) is placed before each of the names that follows the first name (Krinsky). A second manner is, with carbuncles, purple, and richly woven work, and fine linen (Ezek. 27:16).32 is placed after the first two names in a list. A third way is, carnelian, topaz, and smaragd (Ex. 28:17).33 is placed before the last name in the list. A fourth way is, Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.34 is placed before each of the second names in a list. The fifth is, Myrrh, and aloes, and cassia (Psalms 45:9).35 is omitted before the last name. The verse literally reads, Myrrh, and aloes, cassia are all thy garments. The sixth way is, Adam, Seth, Enosh (I Chron. 1:1).36 is employed.
