Ibn Ezra on Exodus 18:11/

1NOW I KNOW. I have explained the meaning of now I know in the Torah portion Shemot, in the verse and they shall say to me: What is His name? (Ex. 3:13).156
2[YEA, FOR THAT.] Because of the fact that the Egyptians dealt willfully with Israel.157 (yea, for that) means: because of the fact, viz., the bet prefixed to davar means because. The bet usually means in. Hence I.E.’s comment. Jethro similarly, noted above, I know that the Lord is greater than all gods in that he punished the Egyptians because they made Israel work with rigor. It is similarly written, Thou knewest that they dealt proudly (hezidu) against them (Neh. 9:11) that is, they158 behaved like a person who does whatever he wants to.159 and zadu mean dealt willfully. Scripture already stated, for I know their pains; and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians160 indicates that the Egyptians did what they wanted with Israel. (Ex. 3:7,8).
